Restaurant in Rhosneigr with view

The "Oyster Catcher" in Rhosneigr, Wales, is an exceptional restaurant that has made a name for itself due to its spectacular location amidst the sand dunes and its high-quality cuisine. It is part of the "Flock Inns" group led by the Timpson family and has been a landmark on Anglesey Island since its opening in 2010. The building itself is an architectural highlight with its modern glass facade that harmoniously blends into the natural surroundings. It features various areas, including the main restaurant on the upper floor with views of the dunes, a relaxed terrace with beach huts and lounge furniture, as well as a bar on the ground floor. Notably, it has a dog-friendly policy, allowing guests to bring their four-legged friends—an advantage for the many walkers exploring the nearby beaches and hiking trails.

Culinarily, the "Oyster Catcher" represents a modern interpretation of British cuisine with a strong focus on local and seasonal ingredients. A highlight is the "Menai Strait Oyster and Mussel Dish," prepared with fresh seafood from the region and distinguished by its delicate seasoning. The "Hand-Stretched Pizza" approach is also popular, where the dough is shaped on-site and topped with high-quality ingredients such as local cheese or seasonal vegetables—a favorite for relaxed meals. For meat lovers, the "Locally Reared Steak" offers a juicy option served with sides like triple-cooked chips. The kitchen places great emphasis on quality, evident in their collaborations with regional producers, from family-owned butcheries to fishermen from the Menai Strait. The dessert menu is equally enticing, featuring the "Chocolate Brownie" served with warm chocolate sauce and vanilla ice cream, promising a sweet finish.

Additionally, the restaurant offers a diverse beverage selection. The "Will’s Bar" on the ground floor is known for its excellent cocktails, including the "Pornstar Martini," which impresses with its fruity notes and stylish presentation. This is complemented by a carefully curated wine list that pairs perfectly with the dishes, as well as a selection of regional beers. For those who do not drink alcohol, there are creative non-alcoholic alternatives that hold their own in flavor. Another highlight is "Pat’s Food Shack," a takeaway area open during good weather, offering uncomplicated dishes like "Filthy Fries"—loaded fries that are perfect for a snack after a day at the beach.

Lovely location. Vegetarian options could be better. Noticed people stealing the nice salt cellars off other tables after people left. Not the restaurant fault but felt uncomfortable.

Fab crispy duck salad starter with black cod for mains. Both delicious I’m Inspired to attempt the black cod recipe at home, the miso & honey on the cod was delicious. Attentive service and happy atmosphere made it an evening to remember 15 min slow walk to and from Rhosneigr was just long enough to comfortably digest before putting my feet up!

Went to the oyster catcher in rhosniger with the family. They refused to serve my son a pint even though he was with his mother and father, and at the age 23years old. They where watching us throughout the meal, which was making us feel very uncomfortable. The manager is an absolute drip. Food was terrible, service was shocking. I eould never go ever again.

Food was okay, but quite expensive for what it was. Pretty basic. Decent menu with varied options including for vegetarians. Nice location.

A pretty place with friendly and intelligent service. The food let the place down. Small portions, expensive for what it was, and bland. I tried a range of starters: crab croquettes, truffle fries, rocket salad, and haloumi fries.
